One Hundred and Forty Four - Ite Roof Water Drop

This is one to come back to - on another day with the right combination of rain and sunshine. It needs a little more care to get it really crisp - I think it should be possible to get the drop and the scene in the drop all in focus...

  1. Like it! Makes me feel thoughtful, so it must be good.

  2. great observation, like the subtle changing colours of the blured background. Woul never have thought of taking a pic of this. Liked the drop and son of the drop to the left.

  3. very cool. I think this is one of your best shots all year in terms of 'wow-factor' despite the issues you mention.

Great stuff. Does that require your macro lense? not sure how close you are to the subject.

  4. Thanks Terrance - I shall definately have to give it another go when the conditions are right - yesterday afternoon we had a great downpour with fantastic low sunlight which gave the feeling of being inside a rainbow, but it only lasted a minute or so.

Rather than pay a fortune for a macro lens I use an extension collar on my longest lens. It means you can't focus and subject distance is small (for this, the drop is only about 1 inch from the front of the lens), but the collar costs about $30. A good Nikon macro lens would be about 20x that!
