Day Two Hundred and Fifty - Amerindian Child

There are two options on this one. The other one is here. This one shows the hands and mouth - chewing a small piece of wooden necklace.

  1. Definitely the right choice, this one. What particularly strikes me, as well as the great photographic choices such as the short depth of field and the off-centre positioning, is how you manage to richen the setting, cutting out the filth and hanging about and disorganisation, yet still keep the reality of the baby's scar where he fell on some rough stones, and his gorgeous grubby little nose. National Geographic in matt not gloss. Stylish...

  2. Thanks Anonymous - I had that strange feeling of deciding on the framing at the time (no crop here) and then after upload thinking perhaps I should have gone a little wider, or slightly right to include the baby's full head. I guess it's healthy to always question our decisions - and wise to take both options in the field so we can decide later! Maybe there was some clutter to the right? Who knows, a moment in time - now gone, decisions made - reasons forgotten!

  3. I have been wanting to comment on this one for some nights now. looking at it each night. Why is it so amazing (as a photo, not as a aww look at the baby and feathers! kind of thing.) have to say i'm not sure but it should be a winner of a photo competition if there is any justice. Get it submitted B its amazing. (I am not drunk lol) Won
